Definition of modesty

What is modesty? We’ve mentioned it a trillion times already. That is one special full loaded word we love to use in our Nesci vocabulary. But what does this actually mean? If we look for an objective definition we’d translate it into: ‘ The quality of not being too proud or confident about yourself or your abilities’ and ‘the quality of behaving and especially dressing in ways that do not attract sexual attention’ (Merriam-webster). Well.. We actually do agree with Merriam. We see modesty as a special and sometimes even rare characteristic (nowadays) that is shown by the inside and outside. We’d love to add self-consciousness, aware of your own power without being arrogant. Yes, you can definitely have it both!
In this time of era wherein the modern society puts women in a complex position, high expectations are asked from us. Being a good student, an obeying daughter, a lovely wife, a caring sister, a supporting friend or a supermom (and sometimes all that greatness in one human being). Yes, we definitely like fulfillll of these expectations, and we also make a good job of pulling this off.
Still, we maintain our modesty. We don’t brag about how good we are in trying to be super in every aspect. We actually sometimes seem even insecure about not being perfect in every aspect. Well, that a great definition of modesty if you ask me.
Moreover, in this era of modern society we also should look great fullfilling those jobs! Why not? I do believe that you should express yourself as the women you are or would like to be. It's all about how you do it, it doesn't have to be according this modern society, where the motto seems to be: the more confident and successful you’re the more showing off. 'To dress uncovered is not the definition of liberty. The freedom lies in your choice.'
At Nesci we believe that beauty and confidence is not about how much you reveal on the outside. Instead, reveal what’s on the inside. Inspire others, let others inspire you, be a better person, a better women. Confident and strong, but not too proud. Just very satisfied about the road you’re in or heading at. And I do think that the way you dress gives a good impression about your lifestyle. I personally love colors. Sometimes nude/pastel tints for soft moods and navy/brown for serious moods. Yes, the colors say a lot about the way you feel. To maintain my modesty I wear long blouses, skirts and a headscarf. But not in a boring way, rather in a bubbly, fresh and a professional way. Oops, I think I just gave some inside look on our SS16 collection. Stay tuned, the launch will be very soon.
